Are you currently deliberating on hiring a professional photographer for your big day? I'm here to tell you 10 reasons why you should hire a wedding photographer for your wedding! You might be thinking, "I'll just get my friends to take photos on their phones", I urge you to read the below and hopefully by the end of it you will feel inspired and encouraged to find the wedding photographer for you.

  1. Experience: Us professional wedding photographers have years of experience in capturing the perfect shots on your big day. We have experience in working with different situations - whether that be rainy or sunny weather, venues that have not much lighting or simply a wedding day not sticking to schedule (don't worry, this does happen and it always works out ok) but having a professional wedding photographer there, means you won't miss a moment.

Quality: A professional wedding photographer has the skills and equipment necessary to produce high-quality images. After your wedding, you may want to print photographs in a wedding album or frame them around your house. Having quality images will make all the difference when it comes to printing your images.

Creativity: A professional photographer has a creative eye and can capture unique and artistic shots that will make your wedding album stand out. Creativity is key when it comes to weddings, at least for me anyway! I think it's super important to present a final gallery which is unique, creative, romantic, full of passion and emotion. These images are with you for a lifetime and you'll want them to withstand the test of time.

Attention to detail: Professional photographers pay attention to the little details that make a big difference in the final product. Attention to detail is key when being a wedding photographer, we always try and get the best shot we possibly can in the moment, but sometimes it does take a little tweaking first to make sure that it's right. We might be moving items around or styling items in a certain way - it's because we know what looks best, our eagle eyes are always on the lookout for bins or items that don't look right in the shot!

Consistency: A professional photographer can deliver consistent results throughout the day, even in challenging lighting conditions. As a photographer I love light, I'm always on the lookout for it. As a natural documentary photographer, I try to use as much natural light as possible, which can't always be the case - going into a dark ceremony room or even a dark dance floor, my trusty flash gun will definitely be making an appearance!

Time-saving: Hiring a professional photographer saves you time and allows you to enjoy your wedding day without worrying about capturing every moment. I've heard some people say "We're going to get our friends to take photos" - this means that they can't enjoy their day. With all of the money and effort that you spend on creating the perfect wedding day for you and your guests, it only makes sense to get a professional photographer to capture those moments for you.

Backup equipment: A professional photographer always has backup equipment on hand in case of any unexpected issues. I have backups for backups, which is vitally important when it comes to wedding photography.

Editing: Professional photographers have the skills and tools to edit your photos to perfection, giving you the best possible results. Editing is something I'm extremely passionate about like most wedding photographers. We spend a lot of time going through images to find the perfect shots, and then even more time getting them right. Your gallery will be presented to you perfectly edited, and available for you to download at high resolution and low resolution.

More than just a photographer: I keep in touch with all of my couples after weddings, I feel so utterly privileged that my couples choose me as their photographer, not only that but as photographers we end up (usually!) helping to do up the dress, putting on buttonholes or fixing your veil. We're a part of your big day - and it's vitally important that you know exactly who I am before your big day - I always have consultations with my couples or even engagement shoots!

Memories: A professional photographer captures the memories of your special day that you will cherish for a lifetime. Most wedding days are super busy and you as a couple won't be able to notice everything going on, a photographer's job is to capture the day in full - capturing candid moments of you and your guests; from drunk dance floor pics to those beautifully natural moments between you both.

Hopefully the above has given you an insight into how I work as a photographer, but also all the reasons why you should consider hiring a professional photographer for your big day.
