A November wedding at Wooladon Estate, Lifton, Devon

In the heart of the South West and on the Devon and Cornwall boarder you will find a beautiful Georgian Estate in the quite and scheduled countryside. Wooladon Estate is a vast and picturesque location, boasting 500 acres of woodland with a number of lakes, woodland trails and wildlife.

In November 2023, I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful day of Jacqueline & Ian. It was a frosty start to the day, which is something I love to capture on the morning of a wedding day - whether there is frost on the trees, or it's spring and the flowers are blooming in the fields, I love to capture the setting of the day in any way that I can. So when this beautiful Highland Cow was sat nibbling on some grass in the field, I had to jump out of my car and capture this stunning moment. (picture above) This is on the approach into Wooladon Estate, so if you're lucky enough, on your wedding day you can call them over with some feed in the hope that the run over so you can give them a little pet and have some photos with them.

I absolutely adored photographing at Wooladon, everything was so beautifully presented and well looked after, especially around the grounds (and this was November!) so the grounds would look even more stunning in the Summer months. There is even a lake which is around a 5 minute walk away (depending on whether you're in heels or not!) but this wasn't quite as accessible in the Winter months, unless you're all wearing wellies! However if you're planning a spring/summer wedding, this could be a really beautiful location for photos.

The Bridal suite has lots of beautiful natural light and there is plenty of accommodation on site for the rest of the Bridal Party including an area where the groomsmen can get ready. I photographed Groom prep in the pool table room, which is located in the main house.

Jacqueline & Ian had their ceremony in the country room, which gives off a real warm and cosy vibe - it has a real countryside theme running throughout, with stone walls, antler chandeliers and a fire place right on the side of the room! I can imagine that this lit up is absolutely stunning for a December winter wedding!

The day continued with a gorgeous Hog Roast, lots of laughs from the speeches and some fantastic moves on the dance floor by everyone, the DJ certainly knew how to get everyone up and dancing, which included me of course! I am that photographer on a wedding day that will be on the dance-floor, right in the heart of the party - snapping away as guests do shots and give me their best caterpillar moves!

A big thank you to the wonderful Jacqueline & Ian for choosing me as your wedding photographer. You are both the most wonderful people and I had an incredible day with you and your loved ones, celebrating your beautiful love story.
